About the Artist
At a very early age, Nadav Sela was influenced by nature. This was encouraged by his parents, who saw nature as art and shared a deep respect for all living things. Sela’s early artistry blossomed through landscaping design and his exposure to diverse cultures.
After leaving the kibbutz in 1984, Sela specialised in designing and creating rooftop and container gardens in Tel Aviv. In 1988, he moved to the United States to continue his designs in Los Angeles California and Atlanta Georgia. In 1992, Sela was seriously injured in a severe car accident. He faced years of surgeries and rehabilitation.
As part of his healing process, Sela began to paint, which carried him through many sleepless nights. Very soon, art became his way of life. His imagery is an interpretation of his own development and transformation, of life force moving through time, and the uncovering of deeper meanings in our lives.

From his upbringing, Sela has a deep sense of respect and sensitivity for people. His art gives voice to this, expressing harmony, unity and serenity through a vocabulary of colour, shape, imagery and flow. He uses multidimensional mixed media, combining synthetic, recycled and natural elements on canvas and wood, and in sculpture and functional items.
The positivity of Sela’s work soothes the impact of our chaotic world and provides a sense of affirmation for the future. Through colour and harmonious forms, his work is a catalyst for the imagination and a vehicle for hope.
Artworks by Sela are on permanent display throughout the United States, Israel, Australia and Europe in private collections, public spaces, businesses, restaurants and cafés.
Nadav Sela presently resides in Melbourne with his wife and son.
